Catching a glimpse of Mount Fuji from the Shinkansen between Tokyo and Kyoto is a memorable experience—but timing, seat selection, and weather all play a role.

🗻 Best Side to Sit On

  • Tokyo → Kyoto: Sit on the right-hand side of the train (seats D & E).

  • Kyoto → Tokyo: Sit on the left-hand side (also seats D & E).

These seats offer the best views of Mount Fuji as the train passes through the Shizuoka Prefecture. The mountain typically comes into view about 40–45 minutes after departing Tokyo, near Shin-Fuji Station, and the sighting lasts for a few minutes .
