We were picked up at the airport in Udaipur, and that’s where we met Dharmendra—the driver who would be with us for our entire road trip around Rajasthan.

He greeted us with a warm smile and flower garlands, which was such a sweet and welcoming gesture.

Udaipur Jodhpur → Jaisalmer → Jaipur

Let the adventure begin!

First stop: Udaipur

widely recognized as the "City of Lakes" due to its numerous and interconnected lakes, particularly Lake Pichola. It's also known as the "Venice of the East" due to its picturesque landscapes and romantic atmosphere, further enhanced by the reflection of palaces on the lake waters

Second stop: Jodhpur

Renowned as the "Blue City" due to its many blue-painted buildings, particularly in the old city. It's also famous for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant folk music, dance, and festivals. Jodhpur is known for its strong handicraft traditions, including ivory goods, glass bangles, and carpets. The city is also a significant tourist destination, with iconic landmarks like Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhawan Palace.

Third stop: Jaisalmer

Also known as the Golden City, is famous for its stunning yellow sandstone architecture, particularly the Jaisalmer Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Last stop: Jaipur

I think the best of them all.

Renowned as "The Pink City" due to its pink-hued buildings and is famous for its rich heritage, palaces, forts, and vibrant culture. It's a major center for gemstone manufacturing, trading, and jewelry, and is also known for its unique handicrafts and markets.

And by the end of the trip, we had a running joke whenever someone asked where in India we were headed:

“To all the -purs!” 🐪✨

(Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Jaipur… we really did collect them all.)
